4 Months Old Already!!!!

Today I had my 4 month check-up with Dr. Patten.  Mommy said, "Knock on wood" I have been very healthy since my last check up.  I was excited to see Daddy when he picked me up early this afternoon.  Then I got to see Mommy too when she met us at the hospital!
When the nurse called my name, we went into the colorful and fun room and Mommy got me undressed.  The nurse said I weighed 16 lbs 6 oz  and am 25 inches long.  Wow...when I was born, I weighted 8 lbs 1/2 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.  Boy, how I have grown!!!

I really like Dr. Patten. She is a young doctor who talks to me a lot. She also tickled my tummy and stretched my legs. I also got to show her how proud I am when I 'stand' on my piggy toes.  She said I am doing great!  I watched her move a light around, smiled and screeched in excitement for her.  She liked that!  Mommy and Daddy need to keep playing with me on my tummy so I push up more and get ready to roll over.  Tummy-time here I come!

Dr. Patten also said I can start eating new foods.  Mommy and Daddy are going to start by giving me rice cereal this weekend.  I am super excited about that.  Watch for photos and video of that with my next post!

After Dr. Patten left, the nurse came back with some nummy stuff to drink (rotovirus vaccine).  Then, she gave me 2 pokes in the legs.  Ow!  It hurt a lot, so I cried for a little while until Mommy got me dressed and snuggled with me.  Then, I was all better!  Daddy said I was a brave, tough guy!

So, that was today's adventure!  Whew!  I am exhausted.  Off to bed!  See you next time!

A quiet weekend adventure

This weekend was quiet compared to my last 2 weekends.  Mommy and I stayed home and played, read stories and snuggled all weekend while Daddy was gone.  I loved the adventure of staying home and checking things out.  I am watching my mommy and my big sister (Emma-puppy) move all around the house, cleaning and playing.  There is so much to see.

I also spent a lot of time in my exersaucer and bumbo chair.  I am still not sure about this bumbo seat...but Mommy said it is good for me so I will keep trying it out.  While Mommy and I snuggled last night, she and I shared a pillow.  Mommy let me just stare at her and put my hand on her cheek. I guess she must have liked that becuase she got tears in her eyes and told me she loved me so much.  Also, she never moved (I guess until I fell asleep).  Then she moved me to my crib where I slept all night!

The weather was sure a lot warmer this weekend.  I got to wear more of my fun summer clothes!  Thanks to my Mommy, Mama, Great Aunt Donna, Great Aunt Karen and Cousins, Leah and Kristin, I have lots of fun new summer clothes!

My next adventure will be on Wednesday when I go to Dr. Patten for my 4-month check up.  Mommy and Daddy keep saying, "I can't believe Aidan is 4 months old already!"

Another weekend adventure

This weekend was another busy one!

Friday night I went to an FAW.  I got to see lots of Daddy and Mommy's friends from YPA.  I had lots of smiles and stories to tell there.

Since the rain, rain won't go away, Papa can't work in the fields. So, I got to take a road trip to snuggle with Mama and Papa this weekend. Saturday, we met Mama & Papa (Mommy's mom & dad) in Minneapolis.

We met in the parking lot of a really big place called the Mall of America.  After Mama covered me in kisses (and lipstick) and Papa snuggled with me, we went to Ikea and the MoA.  There was so much to look at that I got worn out and took a little kitty nap in my stroller while Mommy and Mama shopped for me.

When I woke up, I discovered that Papa had shopped for me too.  He had found me some plates with Lightning McQueen from Cars on them.  He said they only had girly plates at their house, so they needed some boy plates for when I visit.  That was so nice of Papa!

After shopping and lunch, we went to check in to our hotel.  I got to talk with Mama and Papa and get some more snuggling in too!  Then we went to people watch and have some snacks.  Mama showed me all the fun things she got me.  I got lots of clothes for summer and fall.  I also got some frogs to play with in my bath.  I can't wait!  Thanks Mama!

After playing with Mama and Papa for a long time, it was time for me to get ready for bed.  I had a bath, got my pj's on and had a bottle.  I slept pretty good in the hotel but I woke up (like mommy thought) at 3:30am ready for a bottle and play time.  I woke everyone else up too with my talking.  I don't think they minded though!

On Sunday, we had a really yummy breakfast at the hotel and got to hang out, read books, snuggle and talk some more.  Then we went back to the MoA to finish shopping.  Once again, I saw too much cool stuff and fell asleep.
Then, it was time to go.  After lots of hugs, kisses and tears, we said goodbye to Mama and Papa and headed for home.  It was a fun, but fast visit.  I better keep working on sitting up, holding my head up and story telling since we will see them in a few weeks.  Love you Mama and Papa!

We stopped for a break at Albert Lea and Mommy bought me a book.  She said it was my 1st Little Golden Book.  This book had 3 stories in it...one with an orange little fish who got lost (Finding Nemo), a fast car who fixed up a town (Cars) and a rat who wanted to be a chef (Rataouille).  Mommy read all three stories to me on the way home.  I love stories!

Even though I had a busy weekend, I was still happy the next morning as we got ready for school and work.
That was this week's adventures!  See you next time!

Happy 1st Mother's Day Mommy!

Today is my mommy's 1st Mother's Day ever! After a busy weekend in Omaha, we slept in this morning...well over slept a little. We had to get ready in a hurry in order to reach Grandma and Grandpa Kramer's for lunch. They grilled brats and had all the bbq fixins'. Daddy said it was yummy!

After lunch, I got to play with Grandma and Grandpa Kramer and Great-Grandma Primmer. We had Grandma Kramer open her gifts from us. Then, Mommy got to open her very first mother's day present. I got her a gift certificate for the spa in Ames so she can get a massage and pedicure. Daddy got Mommy and pretty necklace that tells everyone that she is a mom!

About mid-afternoon, my cousin Kinnick, Auntie Tanya and Uncle Chris came over. Kinnick gave me hugs and kisses and he even helped feed me a bottle and burp me too. We played, talked and laughed all afternoon. It was so much fun!!

Mommy told me on the way home how much fun she had on her first mother's day, how wonderful her gifts were and how much she loves me and daddy! I love you too, Mommy! xoxoxo from Aidan Russell

My 1st BBQ weekend - May 8, 2010

This weekend Mommy and I went with Daddy to his first BBQ judging event in Omaha, NE. We got to our hotel at 3pm, got changed and went out and about for my first visit to Omaha. We went shopping at a kids superstore and to a few kids stores at an outdoor shopping plaza. Mommy and Daddy bought a couple picture frames and outfits all for me! We even picked up some treats for Emma-puppy who was waiting for us at home.

After shopping, we were hungry. So Mommy and Daddy decided to eat dinner at a place called "Cheeseburger in Paradise". Mommy got a fun looking drink because she hasn't gotten to have one in over a year. She said it was delicious. After a wonderful dinner, we went to visit our friends, Ryan and Sonya, in their camper at their bbq spot. Ryan and Sonya are going to have a baby in June.  They seem very excited to meet their little one.  I had fun hanging out with them but then it was time to hit the hay...I was tired. So we headed back to the hotel where I got a bath, a bottle and went to bed.  Daddy walked across the street to a casino and came back with $60 more than he left with...Yeah Daddy! Add that to my college fund, Daddy!

The next morning we all went to the BBQ Competition. Daddy went to the judges tent while Mommy and I went to the camper to watch Ryan and Sonya compete in the BBQ contest. It was very exciting to watch. Daddy met up with us after judging and said he was 'stuffed', but had a great time!

We watched Ryan and Sonya (in a picture with me below) win ribbons in 2 categories. Then we packed up our things and headed for home. This was my first BBQ competition adventure...wow! There was so much to see and such great smells! I can't wait for teeth so I can have some BBQ too!
