Officially a 1 year old!

I turned 1 on January 24, 2011!  We celebrated my birthday a few days early since it was on a Monday!

In preparation for my 1st birthday, we needed to get me looking spiffy!  So, on Thursday, January 20, I got my first haircut!  At Regis in the mall, I sat on Mommy's lap while Mama and Daddy took pictures and kept me entertained!  Everyone said I looked so grown up!

We had one party on Saturday, January 22 when we invited our neighbors, friends and even my daycare teacher, Miss Jo and her family over.  We had a honey pot Winnie the Pooh cupcake cake and I got to dive into my very own cake!  That was so fun and I did a very good job eating the cake all by myself!   Thanks everyone for coming to celebrate!!  We have missed seeing our neighbors since the snow and cold arrived.

The second party was on Sunday, January 23rd with family and friends. We had a lunch since Daddy's family drove over from the Cedar Rapids area.  I again got to dive into a cake just for me which was made by my cousin, Kari Knudson (on daddy's side of the family).  A huge thank you to Kari for my individual Pooh cake and the big cake that everyone else shared.  Also, thank you to Ryan and Sonya Newstrom for the delicious ribs and chicken!  Mommy wouldn't let me have any ribs but I did get to eat the chicken!  It was delicious!  I also had fun opening presents and spending time with family and friends!  Thank you to everyone for sharing in making my 1st birthday so special!

I also brought cupcakes to daycare on Monday to celebrate and share treats with my friends there.  I love my daycare teacher and friends. Miss Jo is such a wonderful teacher and she takes such great care of me!

A summary of what I have been up to:  I love almost every food I try especially manderine oranges, cooked carrots, yogurt, crackers and chocolate pudding. I still love bath time and would stay in there all night if Mommy and Daddy let me.  I am still a great sleeper and usually sleep from around 8:30pm to 7:30am.  Mommy often has to wake me up to get me ready for daycare.  At my one-year check-up, I weighed 24 lbs 8 oz and am 30 1/2 inches long.  My doctor was very impressed with my crawling skills, babbling and even all my teeth!  I have 7 teeth and 1 molar!

Love you!
Aidan Russell!

A note from Daddy and Mommy:

Aidan Russell,

You are truly our dream come true. We are amazed at all that you have experienced over the past year and how much you have enriched our lives.  You have such a sweet smile which started quickly filling up with teeth around your first birthday!  You are such a little character with your own silly little personality.  Before you started crawling, you would sit up and kick your legs so fast you would have to stop to catch your breath!  Everyone says you will be either a swimmer or a soccer player!

Whatever you become in life, just know that we are so glad you chose us as your Mommy and Daddy and are so proud of you!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

My 1st Christmas and...

Whew! My 1st Christmas was so exciting!

On December 18, I had Christmas party at daycare. All my daycare friends sang and danced (I watched and clapped for them). Santa even dropped in and had a present for ME…I must have been good this year!

Unfortunately all that holiday fun left me sick…again. I had pink eye in both eyes and a double ear infection…boo hoo! I looked like I had gotten in a fight. Fortunately, the medicines worked quickly and I was feeling better for our trip to North Dakota for Christmas.

My first Christmas was wonderful. We had Christmas eve with Mama and Papa and Uncle Jeffrey. We had a delicious supper and opened some presents.  Later on my cousins, Kylie & Keira, and Auntie Jen and Uncle Mike came home and we opened more presents.  I am a very lucky boy!  I got some clothes, toys and books!

On Christmas Day, we got to go over to my Great-Grandparent's house.  Great-Grandpa Everett and Great-Grandma Irene hosted the WHOLE family (as they do every year) with probably 45 people including 7 kiddos under age 6.  I had so much fun meeting some of the family for the first time and playing with all my cousins.  I also got to eat homemade ice cream and christmas cookies for the first time.  I loved it!

For New Year’s weekend, we had Christmas on the Kramer side with Grandma and Grandpa Kramer, Great-Grandma Primmer, Great Uncle Scott, Uncle Chris, Aunt Tanya, and Cousins, Kinnick and Mason.   We had a wonderful weekend with good food, fun play time and lots of snuggles.

Finally…the big news! On a quiet, unassuming Wednesday night (January 5), I found out THAT I CAN CRAWL!!!! Yeah! I started moving after this new train that one of Mommy’s friends passed down from another friend. It moves on its own…so I had to figure out how to do the same! Mommy was getting that train to move and then all of a sudden, my arms and legs started moving too. I am a crawler!!

Since then, I have found my way into the dog dish, the tv stand, the cookbooks on the bookshelf and even pinched my fingers in the kitchen drawers a few times.  But I do love to be on the move!

Look out world, here I come!

Love you!
