Mama and Papa...full of kisses!

Mama and Papa arrived around dinner time last night. They seemed so excited to meet little-ole me! I guess it is cause I am so cute and cuddly! I loved meeting my Mama and Papa. They drove 7 hours just to meet me. Guess I am pretty special?!?! Mama and Papa stayed for a whole week. Papa helped Daddy with projects around the house and Mama cooked lots of food to freeze for later. Also, I noticed that Mommy and Daddy have such wonderful friends and neighbors. Yummy smelling food kept being delivered. Mama and Papa are coming back to visit in a couple of weeks. Bring on the kisses Mama! And Papa, bring those great stories with you too!

Meeting my Mama and Papa, I have heard so much about them

Today's the day! Mommy said her parents, my Mama and Papa, are on their way here to meet me! I can't wait! Mommy says they are already in love with me...and who can blame them. I sure hope they hurry up. I am waiting, Mama and Papa. I will just sit in my swing (picture below) and pass the time until you get here.

First week full of boo-boos!

After seeing many visitors in the hospital despite a blizzard, Mommy, Daddy and I went home on Tuesday, January 26. Brrr...my first trip outside was chilly. Good thing Daddy had the car all warmed up and I was bundled in my new outfit and snow gear from Mama. When we got home, my big 'sister' Emma (puppy) was excited to see Mommy and Daddy and was super excited to meet me. She had some kisses for me, but Mommy didn't like her getting too close. Mommy showed me around my new house and my room. I love the decorations, cute blue and brown turtles and spots all around. Wow-za! So much to see...I was worn out. Nap time here I come! The next several days were pretty uneventful (compared to the previous few) except that I had to go to the doctor every day for four days. Mommy said I had too nice of a tan (jaundice) and the doctors wanted to keep an eye on me. So, first, the nurse put someone warm on my foot (like a cold, ice pack, but warm) and then "OUCH, OUCH, OUCH"...they poked my foot. I cried for a little while until Mommy got to pick me up again. All better! I also spent some time in my swing basking in the sun light by the patio door. After 4 days, mommy told me that the doctors were happy with the results from those boo-boos...so no more pokes. Yeah! That was quite the first week...I hope for more fun adventures to come!

Couldn't wait to meet mommy and daddy - January 23, 2010

Mommy's water broke at 8pm on Saturday, January 23 when she and daddy paused a movie to get a drink and go potty. After calling the doctor, mommy told daddy 'Go tell the neighbors and take a quick shower!' Mommy decided to clean up the mess and freeze food that she had planned to cook and freeze in preparation for my arrival.

8:35pm - On the way to the hospital, Mommy calls Mama to tell her that I am on my way. Mama thinks she is joking...no joking here! Mommy has her first contraction which she tells me hurt and she had to do a lot of funny breathing to get through it.

By 8:45pm, Mommy and Daddy arrived at Mary Greeley Medical Center, headed to the 4th floor, Birthways, and were greeted by Lisa Laughlin, the nurse who would help mommy meet me. Mommy got hooked up to a bunch of listening devices to hear my heart and measure contractions as well as an IV, ouch!

At 9:10pm, Dr. Malaki said mommy was 6cm dilated. Mommy and Daddy made many more phone calls and texts to friends and family including finally tracking down Grandma and Grandpa Kramer and calling Auntie Jennifer really late.

At 11:15pm, Mommy got another IV (epidural) that made her feel better. By midnight, Mommy was fully dilated and ready to go. But, Dr. Malaki made her rest for an hour to get strong for the hard part...getting me out of my cave! My grandparents were called with a quick update. So, at 1:00am, Mommy started pushing...she really wanted to meet me. So after a pretty easy 1 hr and 24 minutes, mommy got her wish. I was born at 2:24am on Sunday, January 24, 2010. I weighed 8lbs 1/2oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. I cried a little bit (but not too much and softly) as they layed me on Mommy's tummy. She and Daddy were full of smiles! Whew! That was quite the adventure. I can't wait to see what happens next! Stay tuned.
